Hair and Make up

May 21, 2008

I have been trying out several make up artists and stylists for my wedding day.  After two other trials, I have decided to contract with Structures Hair Salon in downtown Frederick for our updos.  I was in a wedding about 3 years ago and the whole bridal party had their hair done at Structures and they did a great job.  The atmosphere was fun and comfortable and they had enough staff to accommodate an entire bridal party.  I have scheduled a block of time in the morning to have all the bridesmaids get their hair done along with the mothers of the bride and groom.  It will be a fun relaxing way to begin the day while spending time with my bridal party.

For my make up, I contracted with Stephanie Palermo, an independent make up artist from Baltimore.  She has been in the business for quite a while and was recently the make up artist for the Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders.  During my trial we talked and laughed and got along great.  The make up she applied looked radiant.  I contracted her right away before having any other trials because she did such an amazing job.  She will be joining us after our hair is completed on site at the Antrim.

Rehearsal Dinner Dress In!

May 21, 2008

I just received a call from Elite Elegant Events that my rehearsal dinner dress has come into the shop!  I can’t wait to go try it on and get it fitted.  Now comes the fun part…accessorizing!  Time to go buy new shoes jewelry and anything else I can think of to make it a fabulous outfit!

Save-the-Dates mailed today!

May 21, 2008

I am so lucky to have a fiancé who is a web development engineer and great at graphic design.  He created the design for our save-the-date announcements and they came out wonderful!  All of a sudden time is just flying by and our wedding is just around the corner.  With less then four months to go I just mailed our save-the-dates today.  Better late then never I always say.  They were simple and included our names, the date and the location.  A small enclosure was dropped in the envelope that listed how to access our wedding website for further information and a list of hotels where overnight accommodations had been reserved.  Invitations should be mailed out 8 weeks before the big day…which isn’t too far away from now, so I better get on it!

Florist…check!

May 21, 2008

It really is all about who you know.  A friend of the family who is a florist offered to do my flowers for me at a fraction of the cost that they would normally be.  I was able to add flower centerpieces, arrangements for the archway where we will be married and several other floral elements that I had only dreamed.  I couldn’t be happier with the work that I have seen her produce and the mock ups of the centerpieces and bouquets were exactly what I was looking for.  One more check off the list!

Rehearsal Dinner Site Downtown

May 21, 2008

We have chosen Danielle’s in downtown Frederick as the site for our rehearsal dinner.  We have been working closely with Danny, the owner who has been wonderful!  During our initial meeting we set the menu, chose the portion of the restaurant we are going to hold it in and began to discuss table arrangements and seating options.  We have been long time patrons of the restaurant soliciting the venue when it use to be called Tauraso’s before Danny became the owner.  Prior to booking, we visited Danielle’s for dinner and couldn’t have been happier!  The new décor of the restaurant is wonderfully classy and modern, just what we were looking for.  Both the food and the service were superb!  The party will be in the formal dinning room and the menu will be spread out around the room in a station form of service, providing for a very social atmosphere.  It should be a wonderful event.
